Why study abroad?
Engaging young learners in an immersive experience – Why study abroad?
When students study abroad, young learners all require different styles of teaching and motivating. But, to study in the cultural delights of London will inspire the bright sparks of tomorrow. To ignite future minds and create a lasting impression that would be looked back on in years to come is not an easy step to begin with. However, after a few days of settling in, the rewards will be clear. London is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, and will continue to be well after Brexit. London has the perfect atmosphere for students to develop a wide range of techniques and skills and build upon English as a second language. These skills are required to succeed in the international world.
Class Structure
All classes are interactive, enjoyable and focus on communication with other students. Students who engage with other nationalities at a young age benefit as their horizons broaden. At Rose of York, we achieve this by using the whole range of skills in English. We structure our morning classes in a way that allows students to practice the language they need in the afternoon activities.
Afternoon Activities
Due to the fact that we are located in the centre of London, we have a wonderful range of tourist attractions available to us. Below, you can see a sneak peak of our most popular activities:
- The British Museum is just a five minute walk away from the school. Here, students can find objects from all over the world. Students can see how our world has been shaped.
- The famous River Thames offers a cruise that will show how London has developed. Students can see the development of innovation and expression while they enjoy a relaxing boat trip.
- Buckingham Palace and the nearby St James Park will give you an idea of how the Queen lives. You might even see Harry and William, too!
- With the Natural history museum, Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert museum there is no limit to the inspiration of studying in London. Whether students are interested in insects, technology, or, fashion, London has it all covered. And, Rose of York specifically caters to each individual student’s needs and interests!
Methodology
Students can expect a typical class to involve active participation. Students might create dialogues for films and act out scenes, thereby stimulating creativity. Alternatively, students could be building a replica of a famous building along the Thames River. The activities follow on from earlier taught language. Thus, providing a comfortable environment where students feel confident to express their ideas in groups. Additionally, students can take home a valuable experience to connect with their learning.
Why study abroad?
Children are growing up in a world that is becoming more English-focused. And, there are approximately 50 countries that recognise English as an official language. Approximately, 330 to 360 million people speak English natively. Moreover, 850 million people speak English as a second language. Thus, emphasising just how important English can be for communicating. Because more people are speaking English around the world, students learning and improving their English are at an advantage. This is due to the fact that they can make connection with peers around the world. Additionally, students with an international language are better prepared for a bright future at school, university, work and life.
Students with English as a second language can increase their future university opportunities. London universities are among the most prestigious in the world for all major subjects. Many non-English-speaking countries are, also, increasing their range of English programs in university. You can see this in countries such as Germany, Qatar, Sweden and China. The possibilities for future opportunities are increased by studying English in London. Finally, it is simply an experience that will be never be forgotten!
