English for Kids
Our Young Learner Programmes are specially designed English for kids courses. Young Learners have the chance to develop their English in a fun and interactive way. We design our Young Learner courses to help children practise and develop their English communication and language skills. We do this through fun and interesting activities. Rose of York can tailor these classes to the needs of individuals or groups and age ranges of students.
The English for kids course combines morning classes and afternoon activities. In the morning, students study new language and skills through tasks and exercises. In the afternoons, students go on trips and visits. Students will go to the tourist sights and museums available to us here in Central London. Finally, on Saturdays, students will have the opportunity to visit towns and cities outside of London to see the cultural diversity that is the United Kingdom (optional). Our young learners are aged between 8 and 16 years old, however on occasion we accept younger learners under exceptional circumstances i.e. if joining as a family and accompanied by an older sibling.
Additionally, students can stay in homestay accommodation. Therefore, students can continue their learning outside the classroom. Ultimately, they will be able to learn more about British culture and living in the UK. And, students will make new friends from around the world!
Our Young Learner Programmes
Course Aims
Our teachers try to generate an interest in, and understanding of, British culture. They do this through a variety of theme-based topics which are connected to excursions and activities. Furthermore, we have designed our English for kids course to develop students’ knowledge of vocabulary, grammar and functional language. We do this through communicating effectively in a variety of relevant and engaging situations. Thus helping students develop teamwork, independent study, communication, and, the ability to make international friends.
In addition to classroom study, we include a wide variety of activities such as games, competitions and day trips in the programme.
Students will, not only learn the language, but also become more familiar with British culture. We achieve this through exploring places of interest in London and the surrounding areas.
Welfare
Most importantly, we care about your child’s welfare. Our dedicated support team will care for your child at all times. This includes host parents, teachers and activity leaders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
All Rose of York staff must pass strict safeguarding checks. The safeguarding checks include the Children’s Barred List and an Enhanced DBS (criminal record check). Additionally, all staff have completed a course in Safeguarding. Finally, the welfare staff caring for your children also hold the Advanced Safeguarding Certificate. Our Social Activities Coordinator assesses the risk of each individual activity. Therefore, all our activities are fully risk assessed for safety, including a safe and approved staff to student ratio.
Looking after your children
A member of our team can meet your child in the arrivals hall at the airport. They will accompany your child to their accommodation. On departure, we can also escort your child to the check-in desk for the flight back home, if requested.
Students under the age of 14 will always be accompanied on their way to and from school. Additionally, they will be supervised 24 hours a day. Students who are 14 or over are supervised at school and at home. However, they are allowed to travel on their own to and from school with their parents’ consent.
On the first day at school, your child will be welcomed by our welfare team. They will look after your child and show them around the school. Furthermore, we will introduce them to the rest of the staff and other students. And finally, take them to their classroom.

English for Kids – Group Courses
We can tailor our English for Kids courses to meet the needs of small or large groups of students with a common goal to progress in English. Similarly, our group courses can be changed to suit the ages of the students. And, most importantly, we design the course to focus on the development of many English skills.
We personalise our group courses and professionally-develop each course to meet the exact needs of the learners. Therefore, students can put their language learning into practice through different activities and interactive tasks.
In our English for Kids Group Courses, we aim to:

- Focus on the necessary language awareness and vocabulary required by the group.
- Develop skills to communicate effectively over a wide range of topics.
